Fault description

Diagnosis monitors exhaust VANOS control, cylinder bank 2. The target value/actual value deviation is permanently checked over time during the complete driving cycle.

Engine temperature between 0 °C and 110 °C

Oil temperature lower than 120 or 134 °C, speed-dependent

No stop adaptation fault after power-fail on the respective cylinder bank

No stop adaptation fault on respective cylinder bank

Camshaft edge detected

VANOS target value between 72° and 122°

Possible fault cause:

• VANOS solenoid valve heavily soiled or sticking
• VANOS unit operates stiffly or defective
