Removing automatic transmission (on mobile lifting table)

Damage to the engine block.
Serious damage to the engine block and transmission due to damaged and corroded screws.

- It is imperative that protruding threads of the transmission bolts are checked for corrosion and damage prior to removal.
- It is imperative that all rust is removed from corroded threads and that they are cleaned prior to removal.
- Replace rusted and damaged bolts.

- Remove (arrow) the cover cap (1)
on the top transmission housing.
- Loosen screw (1) .
- Turn engine on the central bolt of the crankshaft in direction of rotation.
- Loosen screws (2) to (6) .
- Remove rubber plug (1)
.
- Unscrew the transmission bolts (1) .
- Guide out and remove cable clip.
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1) .
- Release (arrows) the vehicle wiring harness (2)
from the automatic transmission and place aside.
- Insert the special tool 0 494 213 (24 2 390)
in the sealing sleeve (1)
in arrow direction.
- Prepare special tool 0 494 478 (24 4 161) (1)
with the shaped part 0 494 622 (24 4 164) (2)
as shown.
- Insert special tool 0 494 451 (24 4 160) into the recess of the transmission housing and apply slight tension using the screw (1) .
- Screw the bolt (2) in to the stop.
- Tighten down screw (1)

- Remove screws (arrows).
- Secure the prop shaft on the transmission with a belt.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION

- Remove transmission oil lines (2)

- Loosen screws (1) .
- Remove the left exhaust bracket (2)
.
- Loosen screws (1) .
- Remove the right exhaust bracket (2)
.
- Stage the workshop crane 2 220 718
.
- Stage the lifting gear 0 490 567 (11 0 020)
.
- Secure the engine at the engine mounting brackets using a workshop crane and the cross-member 0 490 567 (11 0 020).
- Lash the transmission with a standard tensioning strap (1)
.
- Remove screws (arrows).
- Unlock lifting table (1) .
- Release the automatic transmission (2) in from the engine in arrow direction.
- Disconnect the automatic transmission (2)
from engine.
