61 21 008 Removing and installing (replacing) battery (auxiliary battery)

WARNING: Observe SAFETY INFORMATION for handling hybrid cars.
DE-ENERGIZE THE HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
WARNING: Observe SAFETY INFORMATIONS for handling battery.
Follow instructions for DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Follow instructions on INTELLIGENT BATTERY SENSOR (IBS) .

To ensure the correct safety and convenience functions, install only the original battery (battery size and type) stored in the vehicle order. OBSERVE NOTE ON BATTERY REPLACEMENT .

Remove service flap (1) from luggage compartment trim panel on the right.

IMPORTANT: Before disconnecting the battery earth lead, it must be ensured that the vehicle goes to sleep. Observe a waiting period of at least 2 minutes.

Loosen nut (1).

Tightening torque: 61 21 1AZ .

Disconnect battery earth lead (2) from battery and secure at side.

Release screws (1).

Slacken nut (3) a few turns.

Remove holder (2) and place to one side.

Detach power distribution box (2) from holder (1) in direction of arrow.

Remove vent hose (2). Open lid (1). Loosen nut (3).

Tightening torque: 61 21 1AZ

Remove positive battery terminal (4). Remove auxiliary battery.

Replacement:
