18 00 020 Removing and installing complete exhaust system (N20)

Special tools required: 

WARNING: Risk of burning!
Only carry out this repair work when the exhaust system has cooled down.
IMPORTANT: Removal of the exhaust system must be carried out with the assistance of a second person.

Support exhaust system with jack and special tool 31 2 220 or other suitable special tool and secure against falling down.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release clamp (1).

Tightening torque 18 31 1AZ .

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 18 31 6AZ .

Unfasten nut.

Tightening torque 18 31 3AZ .

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 18 31 7AZ .

Installation note: 

Risk of damage to screw and thread of the retaining plate.

Join bolt (1) exactly. If necessary, brace rear silencer with a jack.

Release nut (1) and remove ground strap.

Detach pressure hose (2).

Pull rubber mounts (3) off holder.

Lower and remove exhaust system with assistance of a second person.

Installation note: 

Check exhaust system for leaks.
