65 77 740 Removing and installing (replacing) left front door sensor

WARNING:

Observe SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS for handling gas generators.

Incorrect handling can activate pedestrian protection and cause injury.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 65 77 4AZ .

Feed out sensor towards bottom.

Unlock associated plug connection and disconnect.

Remove sensor.

IMPORTANT: A new sensor and a modified door are installed in vehicles with a production date after 07/2011. Only the following combinations are permitted:
  Sensor version Door version
up to 07/2011 from 07/2011 up to 07/2011 from 07/2011
Vehicle production date before 07/2011 Yes No Yes Yes
Vehicle production date after 07/2011 No Yes No Yes

Installation note: 

Make sure front door sensor (1) is in correct installation position.

Guide lug (2) must be correctly seated in corresponding mounting on front door.

Front door sensor (1) must not be installed on a slant!
