51 23 110 Removing and installing/replacing engine compartment lid lock on left (from 09/2008)

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove SERVICE FLAPS, LEFT AND RIGHT .

Slacken screws (1) and release screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 61 4AZ .

Pull back retaining spring from release lever (1).

Feed Bowden cable (2) out of release lever (1) and catch carrier (3).

Engine compartment lid catch with microswitch: 

Detach plug connection (1) by twisting from catch carrier.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Release screws (1) on engine compartment lid lock (2).

Tightening torque 51 23 2AZ .

Push engine compartment lid lock (1) inwards until lock carrier (2) can be raised at the rear (see dashed line).

Lift out bonnet lock (1).

Engine compartment lid catch with microswitch: 

Feed out cable from microswitch for anti theft alarm system.

Remove engine compartment lid lock (1).

Replacement: 

Engine compartment lid catch with microswitch: 

Feed wiring harness (1) completely out of microswitch (2).

Raise retaining tab (3) of microswitch (2) and remove microswitch (2) in direction of arrow.
