51 41 000 Removing and installing left or right front door trim panel

Necessary preliminary tasks 

• Open side window completely.

Switch off ignition before disconnecting plug connections.

Lever out plug (1) with a suitable tool and release screw underneath.

Tightening torque 51 41 1AZ .

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 41 1AZ .

Release bolt (3).

Tightening torque 51 41 1AZ .

Unclip door trim panel (5) with special tool 00 9 317 at points (4).

Installation: 

Replace self-locking screw.

Ensure that the clips are correctly fitted.

1. Blue clips
2. White clips
3. Yellow clips

Installation: 

Always replace blue clip (1) (clip with sealing ring)

If necessary, replace further faulty clips.

Unclip door trim (1) at top.

Feed out door trim (1) from unlocking button (2).

Installation: 

If necessary, replace defective retaining elements.

Unhook Bowden cable (1) from door lock (2).

Depending on equipment specification:

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Remove cable (2) with retaining clips.

Installation: 

Carry out following function checks with door opened:

• Close rotary striker lock with a suitable tool. Check freedom of movement of locking button and linkage by actuating the locking system several times on the ignition key.

If necessary, align linkage and repeat check procedure.

• Open rotary striker lock above inside door handle. Check correct opening by means of visual inspection.
