51 16 063 Removing and installing or replacing interior rearview mirror

Version with remote control for central locking:

If necessary, disconnect negative lead from BATTERY .

Expand two-part cover (1) by pressing from below. Feed out split cover (1) on mirror base plate in each case remove in outward direction.

If necessary, disconnect plug connection underneath.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!

Do not pull mirror (1) off windscreen; instead, carefully turn approx. 45° clockwise to snap out of mirror base (2).

Installation:

Fit mirror base plate on mirror base turned through approx. 45° (see graphic) and snap audibly into place by turning anti-clockwise carefully in direction of arrow.

Only replace with version with remote control for central locking

Initialize all transmitters (ignition keys), refer to Owner's Handbook.

Only when replacing mirror with FLA (high-beam assistance) for vehicles from build date 09/2009 onward

Replace CAN connector (3-pin).

Unpin and dispose of existing connector.

Install newly coded connector part number 6 905 977 (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Department) in same way as existing connector.
