17 51 020 Removing and installing or replacing auxiliary water pump for charge air cooler (N63, N63O1)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Check stored fault message
Switch off ignition
Remove fan cowl. See REMOVING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N63) or REMOVING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N63O1) .
Drain coolant for charge air cooler

Unlock connector (1) and remove.

Unlock and detach coolant hose (2).

Release clamp (3) and detach coolant hose.

Release screw (4).

Remove auxiliary water pump.

After completing repair work, top charge air cooler up with coolant.

Vent COOLING SYSTEM FOR CHARGE AIR COOLER .

Check cooling system for tightness.

Assemble engine.

Read out the fault memory of the DME control unit.

Clear diagnostic fault entries from fault memory.
