61 14 035 Remove and install/replace power distribution box of positive battery cable (from 02/13)

WARNING: Observe SAFETY INFORMATION for handling vehicle battery.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Clamp off BATTERY LEAD FROM NEGATIVE CONNECTION POINT
Remove COWL PANEL COVER

NOTE: Removal and installation are described separately.

Removal:

Release screws (1).

Remove attachment part of partition wall (2).

Release cable strap (1).

Unlock and disconnect connector (2).

Loosen the nut from positive wire (3) and remove positive wire (3).

Loosen latch mechanism (1) and pull off socket (2) upwards.

Loosen and remove cover (1) upwards.

Loosen the nut (2) and unthread positive wire.

Release nuts (3 and 4).

Pull out the power distribution box (5).

Installation:

Installation note:

Install power distribution box (2) as displayed in diagram with washers (1) and new nut (3).

Installation note:

Ensure that the washers are on threaded bolt.

Insert power distribution box (5).

Tighten nut (4).

Tightening torque: 61 21 2AZ .

Tighten new nut (3).

Tightening torque: 61 21 2AZ .

Thread positive wire and tighten with nut (2).

Tightening torque: 61 21 4AZ .

Insert and close cover.

Connect socket (2) from top to power distribution box.

Installation note:

Ensure correct latch mechanism (1).

Connect all connectors (2).

Tighten positive wire (3) using nut.

Tightening torque: 61 21 4AZ

Replace cable tie (1).

Installation note:

Pay attention to correct latch mechanism of all connectors.

Risk of short circuits!

Ensure positive wire (3) is correctly seated.

Remove attachment part of partition wall (2).

Tighten down screws (1).
