Fault description

Diagnosis monitors the synchronization of the intake camshaft sensor 2 and of the crankshaft sensor while starting the engine.

A fault is detected when no distinct position of the crankshaft can be determined from the signals of both sensors.

Possible cause of fault:

• Electromagnetic disturbance
• Wiring harness defective
• Intake camshaft sensor 2 defective
• VANOS defective
