Fault description

Diagnosis monitors intake VANOS control, cylinder bank 1. The target value/actual value deviation is permanently checked over time during the complete driving cycle.

Engine temperature between 0 °C and 110 °C

Oil temperature lower than 120 or 134°C, depending on engine speed

No limit position adaptation fault after powerfail in the respective bank

No limit position adaptation fault after powerfail on the respective bank

Camshaft flank detected

VANOS target value between 70° and 120°

Possible fault cause:

• VANOS solenoid valve heavily soiled or sticking
• VANOS unit operates stiffly or defective
