12 31 022 Removing and installing or replacing starter motor generator (N55 Hybrid)

The following points must be strictly observed prior to starting work: 

• DE - energize the high-voltage system.
• Observe SAFETY INFORMATION  for handling hybrid cars.

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Switch off ignition.
• Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD and cover.
• Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD of auxiliary battery and cover.
• Remove DRIVE BELT for starter motor generator.
• Remove ELECTRIC A/C COMPRESSOR .

Unlock connector (1) and remove.

Remove protective cap (2) and release nut underneath.

Tightening torque 12 42 1AZ .

Remove battery positive lead.

Release screws (3).

Tightening torque 12 31 1AZ .

Release screws (1) a few turns until holder (2) for air conditioning compressor is loose. Do not  remove bracket (2).

Tightening torque 12 31 3AZ .

Feed out and remove starter motor generator.

Assemble engine.
