51 71 120 Removing and installing/replacing cowl panel seal

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove FRONT ROOFLINER COVER 
• Remove TRIM STRIP ON GUTTER STRIP  on left and right

Removal: 

Detach cowl panel sealing (1) all round.

Installation: 

To ensure tightness at the cowl panel, carry out the operations described in the following on the left and right sides:

Insert butyl rope (1) between top aluminium profile strip and side trim strip on gutter strip.

Insert butyl tape (2) in area between upper bolting point of gutter strip trim strip and upper end of A-pillar.

Butyl tape (2):

Part number: 83 19 0 153 321

Fit edge protection (1) all round.

Required reworking: 

• Install FRONT ROOFLINER TRIM 
• Install TRIM STRIP ON GUTTER STRIP  on left and right
