28 40 020 Removing and installing or replacing clutch support (GS7D36SG)

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
IMPORTANT: After completion of repair work, check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL .
Use only the approved TRANSMISSION OIL .
Failure to comply with this instruction will result in serious damage to the twin-clutch gearbox.
IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Remove OIL PUMP  (1).

Unfasten screws (2).

There is another screw of the clutch support located under the oil pump drive wheel.

Tightening torque: 11 Nm.

Remove clutch support (3).

Installation note: 

Replace screws and seal.

IMPORTANT: Before installing clutch support:
Make sure without fail that seal (1) is installed in correct position and piston rings are correctly fitted on drive shaft.

Installation of the clutch support: 

Secure clutch support screw connections in diagonal sequence.

It is mandatory to comply with the specified order of screw connections 1-6.

  1. Tighten all screws to 2 Nm.
  2. Release all screws again by a turn of approx. 180°.
  3. Then tighten fully.

Tightening torque: 11 Nm.
