54 10 050 Removing and installing/replacing mechanism for floating headlining

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Removing BOTH FLOATING HEADLININGS FOR GLASS SLIDE/TILT SUNROOF

IMPORTANT: Drive carriage of drive cable (1) can possibly unhook in most rear (closed) position (turn towards the top)!
Before closing manually, press down drive carriage of drive cable (1) if required, and guide it into guide rail (2).

Removal:

Manually move mechanics for rear floating headlining back until slide rail for rear floating headlining (1) is fully in panoramic roof frame.

Unhook slide rail of rear floating headlining (1) from slide rail of front floating headlining (2) and remove.

Removal:

Manually move mechanics for floating headlining further back until slide rail for front floating headlining (1) is fully in panoramic roof frame.

Unhook slide rail of front floating headlining (1) from drive cable (2) and remove.

Installation:

Installation note:

The operations are applicable for both the left and right sides. Install both slide rails at the same time.

A helper is required for installation. One person must position the slide rails, the second person must move the mechanics.

Attach slide rail of front floating headlining (1) in drive cable (3).

Position slide rail of front floating headlining (1) in guide rail of panoramic roof frame (2).

IMPORTANT: Slide rail of front floating headlining (1) must be fitted correctly in guide rail of panoramic roof frame (2).

Push slide rail of front floating headlining (1) against panoramic roof frame and move forwards into guide rail (2).

NOTE: Move slide rail of front floating headlining (1) forwards until slide rail of rear floating headlining can be installed.

Installation:

Position slide rail of rear floating headlining (1) in guide rail of panoramic roof frame.

IMPORTANT: Slide rail of rear floating headlining (1) must be fitted correctly in slide rail of front floating headlining (2).
Slide rail of rear floating headlining (1) must be fitted correctly in guide rail of panoramic roof frame.
Push slide rail of rear floating headlining (1) against panoramic roof frame and move forwards into guide rail.
