51 36 070 Removing and installing/replacing left or right rear side window

- GENERAL PROCEDURE for dismantling/installing bonded window glass
When reusing the rear window:
Avoid damaging lines for heated rear window/-aerial.
Removal is performed with ROLL OUT 2000 .
The following new parts/consumables are required (sourcing reference BMW Parts Department).

| Velcro fastener (Dual Lock tape) | 2 |
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove TRIM PANEL FOR CAPPING
- REMOVE BOTTOM STRIP ON SIDE WINDOW
- Remove TRIM STRIPS
- If necessary, fix THE TV AERIAL CONNECTOR AND CABLE to the side window with adhesive tape. (Risk of damage).
Push wire from ROLL OUT 2000 at line (1) from outside through adhesive bead.
Position of hoist with double spool:
A = Piercing point
- Suction cup lifter with double spool
- Cutting wire
Cut out side window with Roll Out 2000.
Fitting 2 Dual Lock tapes:
Remove rest of dual-lock tapes (1) and clean bonding surface.
Apply new Dual Lock tape (1) between the marks (2) on the body area.
Check that the position of the Dual Lock tape on the side window corresponds with the Dual Lock tape on the body.
In order that the side window can be correctly positioned on installation, the TRIM STRIP must be fitted before bonding.
Overview for side window bonding (F31):

For reusing the side window:
- Remove rest of dual-lock tapes (2). Clean bonding surface and stick on new dual-lock tapes (2).
Follow the adhesive bead around the circumference of the PVC coating.
x = approx. 200 mm (distance of bead joint (1) to rear window edge)
Position side window at bottom with vacuum and insert positioning pin (1) into body.
Position side window at top.
PVC coating (2) must be positioned against the trim strip (3).
When the rear door is closed, the gasket (4) must be positioned against the PVC coating (2).
Engage side window in Dual Lock tape.
Ensure that the remainder of the missing positioning pin (2) is visible through the bore hole in the body.
