37 11 030 Removing and installing front left or right spring strut

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove FRONT WHEEL
• Release upper wishbone from swivel bearing on the outside. See REMOVING/INSTALLING/REPLACING UPPER LEFT WISHBONE or REMOVING/INSTALLING/REPLACING UPPER RIGHT WISHBONE .
• Remove ANTI-ROLL BAR LINK from spring strut

Pull out rubber cover (1).

Pull off connector (2) toward the top in direction of arrow.

Unclip plastic holder (3) from spring strut dome.

Release screws (1).

Installation note: 

Turn support bearing on the left/right in direction of travel clockwise to the limit position and tighten!

Clean contact surface in spring strut dome.

Tightening torque 31 31 1AZ .

Release nut (1) and remove screw.

Release spring strut from wishbone (2).

Installation note: 

Replace screw and nut.

Note direction of insertion of screw.

Adhere to the assembly sequence.

Tightening torque 31 12 7AZ .

Remove spring strut downwards out of wheel arch.

Installation note: 

Screw spring strut onto wishbone at bottom in NORMAL POSITION .
