28 10 050 Removing and installing parking lock module

In the event of a power supply interruption, e.g. flat battery or electrical fault, the transmission lock must be manually released, otherwise the wheel will be locked and the vehicle cannot be moved.

IMPORTANT: Secure vehicle with appropriate means/equipment against rolling off. (e.g. chocks, parking brake).
Press the brake pedal when manually releasing the transmission lock.

Necessary preliminary work: 

Release Torx screws (1).

Carefully unlock clamp (2) and disconnect parking lock module Bowden cable from the guide.

Installation note: 

Note the installation position (3) of the Bowden cable.

Carefully release the cable connector (1).

Release nuts from parking lock module and carefully pull out the module upwards.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm

Installation note: 

LOCKING THE TRANSMISSION .

IMPORTANT: This procedure must  be performed in order for the transmission to be shifted back to the parking position (P) and the vehicle to be secured against rolling away.
