24 00 055 Installing Exchange Gearbox (GA8HP70Z) AWD

IMPORTANT:

Do not let skin come in contact with transmission oil and do not inhale fuel vapors.
Wear protective gloves.
Ensure adequate ventilation.

Drain automatic transmission fluid at oil drain plug.

Tightening torque: 24 11 2AZ .

IMPORTANT: After completion of repair work, program control transmission control unit.

Recycling:

Catch and dispose of escaping transmission oil.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

IMPORTANT:

Before installing replacement transmission, always flush TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER TOGETHER WITH LINES .
After completion of repair work, check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL .
Use only approved transmission oil .
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission.

Exchange transmissions come filled with oil.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove automatic transmission . See 24 00 034 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (GA8HP70Z) N57 AWD or 24 00 034 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (GA8HP70Z) N63 AWD .
Remount the TRANSFER BOX .
Remount TRANSMISSION MOUNTING BRACKET . (Only N57).
Remount the exhaust system holder. (only N57).

Remount release lever (3).

Tightening torque: 24 51 3AZ .

Remount holder for cable.

Tightening torque: 24 51 4AZ .

NOTE: Bowden cable and release lever for the emergency release discontinued with:

F01 as from production date 09/2010.
F07 from production date 03/2010.
F10/F11 as from production date 06/2010.

Remount transportation retainer.

Remount all cable clips.

Remount all seal plugs.

Remount protective cap on output shaft.

IMPORTANT: After removing transportation retainer, secure torque converter against slipping out.

Transmission identification:

On type plate.
