12 42 500 Replacing battery positive lead between starter, alternator and battery positive connection point (N52T)

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Read out fault memory of DME control unit
• Turn off ignition
• Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD
• Remove INTAKE PLENUM

Fold back cover (1).

Release nut underneath. Remove positive battery cable (2) from positive battery connection point.

Tightening torque: 12 42 3AZ .

Release battery positive lead (1) from clamps (2).

Release clip (1).

Loosen clamps (2).

Unlock tab (3) in direction of arrow.

Remove cable clip upper section in upward direction and expose wiring harnesses.

Unfasten nut.

Tightening torque, 12 42 2AZ .

Disconnect battery positive lead (2) from starter motor.

Remove protective cap (2) and release nut underneath.

Tightening torque, 12 42 1AZ .

Remove battery positive lead from alternator and feed out.
