17 22 010 Removing And Installing/Replacing Transmission Oil Cooler For Automatic Transmission (N63, B40/44 0/1)
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain coolant . See 17 00 005 DRAINING AND ADDING COOLANT (N63) or 17 00 005 DRAIN AND TOP UP COOLANT (N63 B40/B44 O 1) .
- Remove fan cowl . See 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/RENEWING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N63) , 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING THE FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N63 B40/B44 O 1) or 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING THE FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N63 B40/B44 O 1) .
Recycling
Catch and dispose of drained coolant in a suitable container.
Transmission oil emerges when engine oil lines are detached from transmission oil cooler.
Catch and dispose of escaping transmission oil in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Unlock coolant hose (1) and detach from gearbox oil cooler.
Unlock transmission fluid lines (2) and detach from gearbox oil cooler.
Pull transmission oil cooler (1) up and out of module carrier (2).
Unthread and remove transmission oil cooler.
Installation note:
Only when replacing transmission oil cooler, remount engine oil pipe (1).
Release screw (2).
Remove clamp.
Release screw (3).
Tightening torque: 17 22 9AZ .
Detach oil pipe (1).
Replace sealing ring.
Check OIL LEVEL in automatic transmission. If necessary, top up automatic transmission oil.
