51 41 018 Replacing speaker cover on left or right front door trim panel

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove SPEAKER from door trim panel

Removal:

IMPORTANT: Speaker trim is welded to door trim panel only on initial installation.
If necessary, release lock washers instead of welding spots.
Only drill down to door trim panel area so as not to damage the contact surface.

Drill out welding spots an door trim panel with weld spot drill bit dia. 8 mm.

Remove speaker cover (1).

Remove welding remnants on door trim panel.

Installation:

Insert speaker cover in door trim panel.

Secure pins (2) with lock washers (3).

Saw off all pins (2) to dimension (X) (risk of damage of sound insulation).

Dimension (X) = 2 mm

IMPORTANT: Do not clip off pins (2) with diagonal cutting pliers as the pins (2) can be deformed by this and the lock washers (3) can become loose.
To not drop below dimension (X) while sawing off, place on suitable washer and saw off pins (2) above the washer.
