51 11 770 Removing and installing/replacing front left or right deformation element for bumper

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID GASKET MOUNTING in working area
REMOVE support for front bumper panel
Release HIGH-PRESSURE NOZZLE OF HEADLIGHT CLEANING SYSTEM

Release screw (1) on V-support (2).

Tightening torque 51 61 6AZ .

Release screws (3).

Unclip hose pipe (2) for headlight cleaning system at marked points and set down safely.

Release screws (1) on V-support (3).

Tightening torque 51 11 7AZ .

Feed out cross-struts (3).

Unclip air duct (1)

Installation note:

Make sure all retaining lugs are correctly latched on air duct (1).

Retaining lugs on air duct (1) must not be missing or damaged.

Unclip wiring harness mounting (1).

Release screws (2) on brake air duct (1).

Remove brake air duct (1) in direction of arrow.

NOTE: For height adjustment, mark position of deformation element (4).

Unfasten plug connection (3) and disconnect.

Release bolts (1) on engine support (2).

Tightening torque 51 11 3AZ .

Installation note:

Height adjustment, refer to 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

Release screws (1) on cross-member (2).

Tightening torque 51 11 2AZ .

Unlock plug connections (1) and (2) and disconnect.

Unlock plug connection (1) on headlights (4) and disconnect.

Disengage Bowden cable (2) from engine compartment lid catch (3).

Release screws (5).

Tightening torque 51 23 2AZ .

Installation note:

Bowden cable (2) must be correctly engaged in engine compartment lid mounts.

Release screw (2).

Feed out deformation element complete with headlights (2) and lock support in direction of arrow and set down safely.

Release screws (1).

Remove deformation element (2) from lock support (3).

Release screws (3).

Release screws (1).

If necessary, pull out outside temperature sensor (2).

Feed out air duct (3) in direction of arrow.

Release screw in area (A) on rear side of auxiliary radiator (1).

Detach auxiliary radiator (1) from holder (2).

Release screws (1 and 2).

Feed out V-support (3).

Unlock plug connections (1) and (2) and disconnect.

If necessary, unlock and disconnect additional plug connection for Side View camera.

Unlock plug connection (1) on headlights (4) and disconnect.

Disengage Bowden cable (2) from engine compartment lid catch (3).

Release screws (5).

Tightening torque 51 23 2AZ .
