33 32 131 Removing and installing/replacing a steering stub/wheel carrier (M5)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove REAR WHEEL .
- Remove BRAKE DISC .
Release screw (1) on respective shock absorber (2).
Tightening torque 33 52 3AZ .
Release shock absorber (2) from wheel carrier (3).
Release nut (1) and remove screw.
Tightening torque 33 32 4AZ .
Release screw (2) and remove integral link (3).
Tightening torque 33 32 5AZ .
Installation note:
Replace screw and nut.
Tighten screw connections in NORMAL POSITION .
Slacken nut (1).
Tightening torque 33 32 7AZ .
Remove toe link (2) from wheel carrier.
Installation note:
Replace nut (1).
Keep toe link to wheel carrier connection clean and free from oil and grease.
Slacken nut (1).
Tightening torque 33 32 9AZ .
Remove wishbone (3) from wheel carrier.
Installation note:
Replace nut (1).
Keep wishbone to wheel carrier connection clean and free from oil and grease.
Release screw (1).
Tightening torque 34 51 3AZ .
Withdraw wheel speed sensor (2) from bore hole.
Installation note:
Grease bore hole for pulse sensor with Staburags NBU 12/K lubricating grease.
Release nut (4) and remove screw.
Tightening torque 33 32 3AZ .
Remove wheel carrier.
Installation note:
Tighten down screw connection in NORMAL POSITION .
Replace self-locking nut.
Replacement:
Modify BRAKE ANCHOR PLATE/BRAKE GUARD PLATE .
After installation:
- Carry out wheel alignment procedure . See 32 00 150 KDS CHASSIS/WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or 32 00 155 KDS WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .
