34 21 320 Removing And Installing Or Replacing Both Rear Carbon Ceramic Brake Discs (CSiC)
Special tools required:
- 34 1 280
Consult the BOUNDARY SAMPLES CATALOGUE when assessing the appearance of new carbon ceramic brake discs.
After completing work, read and comply with the NOTES ON BREAKING IN NEW BRAKE DISCS/BRAKE PADS .
Necessary preliminary work:
- Only remove WHEELSwith the help of a
wheel jack!
Failure to comply with this stipulation may give rise to damage to the brake disc or brake caliper!
- Remove and clean/replace BRAKE PADS .
Check the carbon ceramic brake discs for WEAR using the wear indicators!
If the brake discs are replaced, you must also fit new brake pads.
Brake discs may only be installed in pairs (on each axle).
Remove and clean brake-caliper support!
Failure to comply may result in damage to the brake discs (edge chipping).
Release screws (1). Detach brake-caliper support.
Tightening torque: 34 21 2AZ .
Installation note:
So as not to damage the surface coating, if possible do not mechanically clean the guide surfaces for the brake pads on the brake caliper mounting bracket. Instead, clean with brake cleaner and apply a thin coating of brake pad paste.
If necessary, carefully tap on base of brake disc chamber with a rubber mallet.
Clean contact surface of brake disc at wheel hub thoroughly and remove traces of corrosion.
Unevenness on contact surface may result in distortion of brake disc!
Release both screws (1) and remove brake disc.
Installation note:
Replace both screws.
Tightening torque: 34 21 1AZ .
