51 16 160 Removing and installing center console cover

When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.

Open cup holder sealing cap and pull out protective carpet (1) at tab (see arrow in illustration).

If necessary, first remove tray insert or ashtray.

Open both center console armrests.

Carefully lift off cover latch (1) by hand.

Release screws (1).

Installation: 

Lightly screw in screws part way.

Tightening torque 51 16 9AZ .

Use adhesive tape to protect front decorative trim from damage.

Carefully lever out center console trim (2) at marked locations on left and right.

Continue to lift up center console trim (2) at rear at an angle and disconnect remaining plug connections.

Lift and push out 12-V power socket insert (3).

Carefully lift out center console trim (2).

Installation: 

Replace defective retainers (1).

Make sure center console trim is seated correctly.
