00 00 610 Service - engine oil (N63)

Special tools required: 

The FRU (flat rate unit) item 00 00 610 comprises the engine oil service incl. supplementary service.

Only the engine oil service will be described in these repair instructions.

The supplementary service is made up of the following operations which must be taken from the relevant repair instructions:

IMPORTANT: Perform engine oil service only when engine is at normal operating temperature (>70 °C engine oil temperature).
Observe the exact engine oil filling capacity.
Overfilling the engine with engine oil will result in engine damage. 
Inspection and drip-off times must be observed.
WARNING: Risk of scalding!
Carry out work on the vehicle only when wearing oil- and heat-resistant protective gloves incl. forearm protection, face guard and protective apron.

Recycling 

Catch and dispose of drained engine oil in a suitable collecting vessel.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Release screw (4) on underbody panelling.

Expose sensor opening (2) for oil filter cover with aid of designated holes (3).

Release screw (5) on underbody panelling.

Expose sensor opening (1) for oil sump screw plug with aid of designated holes (3).

NOTE: For purposes of clarity, the graphic shows the underbody panelling and underbody protection removed.

Release screw plug (1) of oil filter cover (2) with a suitable tool and drain engine oil.

Tightening torque 11 42 2AZ .

Remove screw plug (3) from oil sump and drain engine oil.

Tightening torque 11 13 1AZ .

Installation note: 

Replace sealing rings. 

Release oil filter cover (1) with special tool 11 9 240 .

Tightening torque 11 42 1AZ .

Remove and insert oil filter element (3) in direction of arrow.

Installation note: 

Oil filter element (3) must snap audibly into oil filter cover (1).

Installation note: 

Replace oil filter element (3) and sealing ring (2). 

NOTE: Moisten sealing ring (2) with engine oil.

Assemble engine.

Pour in ENGINE OIL .

NOTE: Start engine and run at idle until oil pressure indicator light goes out.

Switch off engine

Check oil filter cap and screw plugs (1 and 2) for oil filter cap and oil sump for leaks.

Checking engine oil level:
