63 31... Removing and installing/replacing fibre optic conductor of rear door trim panel, storage compartment

Special tools required: 

WARNING: Fibre optic conductors are sensitive (risk of damage). Always handle carefully.

Necessary preliminary tasks 

Fibre optic conductor in storage compartment 

  1. Remove LED module (3) in direction of arrow from bracket (2).
  2. Carefully pull LED module (3) from fibre optic conductor (1).

IMPORTANT: Use suitable protector (2) to avoid damaging the storage compartment.

Pull out fibre optic conductor (1) with special tool 64 1 020 and unclip.

IMPORTANT: (Risk of fibre optic conductor (1) breaking!)

  1. Pull downward
  2. Turn downward towards rear side of storage compartment
  3. Fold straight up
  4. Feed out and remove

Installation: 

Check fibre optic conductor (1) for damage (scratches or cracks), replace if necessary.
