41 34 060 Replacing Outer And Inner Tail Panel Sections Stripping Operations

NOTE: Owing to the different engine variants and equipment specifications, not all the components are taken into consideration.
The following list basically represents the removal sequence.
  • Disconnect negative battery cable (job number: 6120 900)
  • Remove bumper trim (job number: 5112156)
  • Remove bumper support (job number: 5112050)
  • Remove center bumper guide (job number: 5112825)
  • Remove guide for bumper on left and right (job number: 5112828)
  • Remove luggage compartment floor trim panel (job number: 5147101)
  • Remove left luggage compartment wheel arch panel (job number: 5147151)
  • Remove right luggage compartment wheel arch panel (job number: 5147161)
  • Tail panel cover (job number: 5146050)
  • Remove rear light on left and right (job number: 6321180)
  • Remove tailgate lock (job number: 5124100)
  • Partially detach tailgate seal
  • Remove control unit for air suspension
  • Remove control unit for automatic luggage compartment lid actuation

Operation is described on the left side. Right side identical.

Release nut/expanding rivets and remove both supports (1) for floor panels.

Release screws and lay TV module (1) to one side.

Release tank vent valve (2) and lay to one side.

Operation is described on the left side. Identical on right side:

Partially unclip wiring harness (3).

Remove insulating mat (4).

Unlock connectors for control units (1) and disconnect.

Release nuts for control unit holder and remove holder with control units.

Partially unclip wiring harness (2).

Unclip cover (3) and remove.

Unclip and remove rear ventilation (4).

Installation note: 

The rear ventilation must not be damaged. (watertightness).

All latch mechanisms must engage audibly.

Release wiring harnesses (1) from rear trim panel and lay towards front.
