Installing rear trim panel

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 BMW 550i GT, 2012 BMW 550i GT, 2011 BMW 550i GT, and 2010 BMW 550i GT. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Clean all  bonding surfaces on new part and on vehicle with cleaning agent R1.

Apply adhesive to bonding surfaces.

Mount rear trim panel (1) and secure with blind rivets.

When inserting rear trim panel, make sure there is sufficient adhesive on bonding surfaces.

Use punch rivets N4 in areas (1) and (2):

Area Number
1 7
2 13
IMPORTANT: No blind rivets  may be used in areas (4)! Areas (4) = 10 cm

Press rear trim panel in areas (1) and remove emerging adhesive.

Then install carrier for bumper trim to secure rear trim panel carrier.

IMPORTANT: Prevent emerging adhesive from coming into contact with support.
Do not use any cleaning agents containing solvents.

After hardening of the adhesive install 10 EMC SCREWS  in the areas (1).
