51 46 050 Removing and installing/replacing top trim on tail panel

Special tools required:

51 2 040

Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove LOWER LEFT AND RIGHT TRIM PANEL .
Partially remove REAR SPARE WHEEL WELL TRIM PANEL (rear expanding rivets).

NOTE: Graphic used originates from F01

Release impact plates (1) with special tool 51 2 040.

Pull off rear lid seal in the trim area.

Lever out left and right covers (1) and (2).

Release screws (3) from left and right cover.

Tightening torque 51 47 3AZ .

Release left and right screws (5) from lashing eye.

Tightening torque 51 47 4AZ .

Release all expanding rivets (4) along the cover (6).

Shape cover (6) slightly "concave" for removal.

Installation:

Check proper fit of the cover (6).

Make sure the rear lid seal is correctly seated.

Note on installation, US version only:

Place foam rubber tab (1) of the emergency release below the screw cover on the right of the tail panel, as illustrated.
