Automatic transmission GA8P70HZ hybrid drive: Notes

When the installation space is the same as the one for the conventional automatic transmission the following hybrid-specific components are integrated:

• Torsional vibration damper to balance the irregular rotation of the combustion engine.
• Separation clutch to disconnect the combustion engine form the rest of the drive train and thereby enable pure electric driving and coasting.
• Electrical machine that can function as engine and alternator.
• Additional electric transmission oil pump to ensure the supply with transmission oil pressure when the transmission input shaft is at standstill.

Because the automatic transmission GA8P70HZ does not contain a hydraulic torque converter, other components must handle the transmission of the torque during drive-off and crawling. The electrical machine and integrated drive-off element handle this task.
