Electronic emergency release

An electronic emergency release function is provided for the automatic transmission.
Procedure as follows:
- Press brake pedal and keep it pressed throughout the entire process.
- Press start/stop button and hold down during the entire process.
- Press the release button on the gear selector switch.
- Hold down the release button. Move the gear selector switch to selector lever position N. Hold the gear selector switch in this position for approx. 5 seconds.
- As soon as neutral gear is engaged in the automatic transmission, a Check Control message appears in the instrument cluster.
- The brake pedal, start/stop button, gear selector switch and the release button can be released.
NOTE:
Conditions under which the operation of the emergency release is difficult or not possible at all:
- Vehicle is located on a slope (tension in the drive train)
- At very high or low transmission oil temperatures (changed viscosity)
