Electronic transmission control (EGS) and mechatronics module
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 45 other vehicles, including the 2016 BMW M5, 2016 BMW 550i xDrive, 2016 BMW 550i, 2016 BMW 535i xDrive, and 2016 BMW 535i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The mechatronics module is a combination of hydraulic shift unit and electronic control unit. The electronic transmission control is located in the lower area of the automatic transmission and is surrounded by the transmission oil sump.
The hydraulic shift unit contains the mechanical components of the transmission control unit.
The mechatronics module has been adapted. The engine speed is detected by means of an output speed sensor for the planet spider on gear set 1. The electronic transmission control uses this to calculate the slip at multidisc clutch B when driving off. The transmission input speed is determined using the rotor position sensor of the electrical machine.
