Functional description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 45 other vehicles, including the 2016 BMW M5, 2016 BMW 550i xDrive, 2016 BMW 550i, 2016 BMW 535i xDrive, and 2016 BMW 535i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The footwell module (FRM) is the master control unit for the exterior lights. That means: All lighting functions are controlled by the footwell module (FRM).

On request from the footwell module (FRM) the LED main light module controls the relevant lighting functions. The footwell module (FRM) sends the request in the form of a message on the K-CAN2. The central gateway module (ZGM) forwards the message on the K-CAN3 to the LED main light module on the left (LHML) and LED main headlight module on the right (LHMR). The following graphic shows the LED main light module on the left (LHML) using the example of the F01 with LED headlight.
