13 53 332 Removing and installing/replacing feed line (Continental high pressure pump) (N55)
Special tools required:
Electric fuel pump starts up automatically when door is opened!
Carry out installation work on fuel system only with coolant temperature below 40 °C.
Wear safety goggles.
Introduced contaminants can cause malfunctions in the system!
- Do not allow any dirt particles or foreign bodies to get into the system.
- Remove all traces of dirt before removing lines or separate components.
- Use only fluff-free cloths.
- Seal all fuel system openings with protective caps or plugs.
The resistance of the silicone material is reduced significantly by contact with fuel, which may cause the ignition coil to fail!
Cover ignition coil with suitable means.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove INTAKE PLENUM
Recycling:
Fuel escapes when fuel lines are detached.
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Disengage connector (1) from the fuel low-pressure sensor, oil temperature sensor and the high pressure pump and remove.
Release fuel lines and seal off with special tools (1) 13 5 161 and (2) 13 5 162 .
Release screws (1) below cable channel (2).
Installation note:
Adhere to tightening/torque sequence.
Release nut (1) on high pressure pump.
Remove feed line (2).
Installation note:
Adhere to tightening/torque sequence.
Close off feed line and high pressure pump with a matching plug from set of special tools 32 1 270 .
Installation note:
First fit feed line (2) on high pressure pump and engine block only hand tight.
Adhere to tightening/torque sequence:
- Tighten down nut (1) with special tool 13 5 020
. In doing so, hold against low-pressure sensor flange.
Tightening torque 13 53 7AZ .
- Tighten bolts (1) below cable channel (2).
Tightening torque 13 53 10AZ .
Assemble engine.
Check fuel system for tightness.
Check function of DME.
