51 44 011 Removing and installing or replacing headlining (with slide/tilt sunroof)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove BOTH TRIM PANELS FOR ROOF PILLAR AT FRONT (A-pillar)
- Remove BOTH TRIM PANELS FOR DOOR POST AT TOP (B-pillar)
- Remove BOTH TRIM PANELS FOR REAR ROOF PILLAR (C-pillar)
- Remove REAR INTERIOR ROOF LIGHT
- Remove BOTH SUN VISORS AND COUNTER SUPPORTS
- Detach EDGE PROTECTION from all doors and tailgate in headlining area.
Depending on version:
- Remove MIRROR LIGHTS
- Remove ROOF SWITCH CLUSTER
- REMOVE front ceiling light
- Remove microphones . See 84 31 550 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING MICROPHONE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE or 84 31 551 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING HANDS-FREE MICROPHONE, PASSENGER'S SIDE .
Complete removal of headlining only:
- Remove WINDSCREEN
Release screws (1) on left and right.
Release trim (1) from clips (2).
Unlock associated plug connections and disconnect.
Feed out cover (1) in direction of arrow.
Installation note:
Replace faulty clips (2).
Fold down rear seat backrest.
Adjust backrest of driver's and front passenger seat all the way back.
Detach edge protection (1) toward the inside.
IMPORTANT:
The following tasks must be carried out with a second person assisting:
Release headlining at clips (2) and (3).
Set the headlining down and take out through the windscreen opening.
Installation note:
Replace faulty clips (2, 3).
