Fault description

Diagnosis monitors exhaust VANOS control, cylinder bank 1. The target value/actual value deviation is permanently checked over time during the complete driving cycle.

Engine temperature between 0 °C and 110 °C

Oil temperature below 120 or 134°C, depending on the engine speed

No stopper adaption fault after power fail on the respective bank

No stopper adaption fault on the respective bank

Camshaft edge detected

VANOS target value between 72° and 122°

Possible fault cause:

• VANOS solenoid valve heavily soiled or sticking
• VANOS unit operates stiffly or defective
