Fault description

The main diagnosis monitors the adaptation boundaries and even the limit position of the adaptation boundaries. The adaptation boundaries are specified by the respective characteristic maps. However, the diagnosis does not take the evaluation into account

• the - control and
• the tank ventilation

The diagnosis fuel system still works with two additional functions that monitor the oxygen sensor control factor. These functions are active in both the adaptation phases and in the tank ventilation phases because this is a requirement of the authorities (CARB = California Air Resources Board.)

The fault is identified when the max. adaptation boundary (25..30%) is over-run for 40 seconds. Cylinder bank 2

Possible fault cause:

Mixture too lean

1. intake plenum
   1. Hot film air mass meter fault
   2. Intake area leakage
2. intake plenum exhaust apparatus
   1. Leak in exhaust system
   2. One catalyst completely closed!
3. Fuel path

   faulty fuel injector (mechanical)

   faulty high-pressure fuel system (pump or sensor)
