Action in service

If faults are entered for the following components, these must be processed first:

• Intake system, Valvetronic, VANOS, exhaust turbocharger, pressure sensors.

Check wires and plug connections between the following components:

• Digital Motor Electronics.
• Hot film air mass meter.

Check air intake system for leaks.

Check crankcase ventilation connection to cylinder head cover.

Check tank ventilation connection to second inlet point.

Check gasket on oil filler cap.

Air intake duct to hot film air mass meter faulty (air filter element faulty or incorrectly fitted).

Check hot film air mass meter for oil pollution.

Replace hot-film air mass meter.
