51 41... Removing and installing/replacing switch cover on front (driver's side) left or right door trim panel

When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.

Removal and installation are described separately.

Necessary preliminary work: 

Removal: 

Release screws (2) and clamps (1).

Release screws (3) and remove clamps (4).

NOTE: For a better schematic diagram, graphic is shown with removed power window regulator switch.

Release clamp (1).

Mask off door trim panel in area of switch cover (1) with adhesive tape (2).

Unclip switch cover (1) starting at front.

NOTE: In the rear area, the removal of the switch cover (1) can be more difficult due to the extra guide (3).

Installation: 

Release switch for power window regulator (1) at both sides of latch mechanisms (2) and remove from switch cover (3).

NOTE: For better installation, switch cover must be worked.

Remove guide (1).

Shorten guide (2) along line (A).

Installation note: 

Remaining guides and latch mechanisms must not be damaged.

Feed switch cover (1) in rear area under armrest (2).

Slide switch cover (1) in direction of arrow and clip in.

Installation note: 

Make sure all guides and latch mechanisms are correctly fitted.

Attach clamp (1).

Install switch for power window regulator.

Tighten down screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 41 6AZ .

Attach clamps (1).

Secure clamps (4) with screws (3).
