41 14 511 Replacing Complete Rear Left Wheel Arch (Rear Left Side Panel Removed)

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific PROCEDURE .

Use only approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS  for repairs.

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

Following new body parts are required:

Fig 1: Identifying B-Pillar (Outer Left), Wheel Arch (Rear, Outer Half, Left) And Wheel Arch (Inner Rear Left)

Removing the wheel arch 

Loosen SPOT-WELDED ADHESIVE JOINTS  in area (1).

Open welded connections in areas (1).

Open brazed joints in area (2).

Remove the wheel arch.

New part preparation 

Adjust new part to fit with straightening attachment or universal mount (soft top securing mount).

New part is fastened in this area (1) using adhesive riveting technology.

In this area (1), create two bore holes with Ø 4.2 mm for BLIND RIVETS N3 .

Remove new part and deburr holes.

Prepare the BONDING SURFACES .

Installing the wheel arch 

Clean bonding surfaces with cleaning agent R1.

Apply adhesive K1 to bonding surfaces.

Install new parts using an alignment bracket or universal mount.

Rivet new parts around the bonding surfaces using blind rivets.

Weld new parts.
