41 14 020 Replacing Front Left Or Right Wheel Arch

Note the special vehicle identification number procedure when replacing the front right wheel arch (order the new body part with the vehicle identification number, if necessary)!

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific PROCEDURE .

Use only an approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS  for repairs!

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

Observe procedure for REPAIR STAGE 2 .

Following new body parts are required:

Following CONSUMABLES  are required:

Material Quantity
Adhesive K1 1
Blind rivets N1 32
Cleaning agent R1 1
Sealant D1

Removing the wheel arch: 

Open welded connections in areas (1).

Open welded connections in areas (1).

IMPORTANT: When opening welding spot joints, do not damage panel underneath.

Open welded connections in area (1).

Open SPOT-WELDED ADHESIVE JOINT  in area (2).

Remove wheel arch with carrier support.

New part preparation 

Adjust new parts to fit with alignment bracket or universal mount and secure.

In areas (1) set thirty two 6.8 mm dia. bore holes for blind rivets N1.

NOTE: Number of blind rivets must correspond to number of opened welding spot joints.

Remove new part and deburr holes.

IMPORTANT: Structure bonding!
Observe PREPARATION  of bonding surfaces.

Installing wheel arch and carrier support 

Clean all bonding surfaces on vehicle (1) and on new part with cleaning agent.

Apply K1 adhesive to bonding surfaces (1).

Install new parts with alignment bracket or universal mount and rivet with blind rivets N1 (1).

Weld new parts identically to the series in the other gap areas.
