36 00... Checking tire inflation pressure

NOTE: Through natural air diffusion, a tire loses approx. 0.05 bar per month, which is about 0.03 bar inflation pressure after 6 months.

Driving with low pressure negatively impacts fuel consumption and tire wear, particularly the tendency of run-flat tires to wear unevenly and experience increased abrasion.

In addition, extremely low inflation pressure can adversely affect driving stability or cause tire damage and thus accidents.

Checking inflation pressure (at least twice a month and prior to long trips) as well as adjusting it to the load status of the vehicle is necessary.

Checking tire inflation pressure:

The pressure information for the approved tire sizes are located on the driver's door post.

If the tire's speed rating letter is not listed, the inflation pressure for the particular size, such as 255/45, applies R17.

When towing a trailer, the higher load inflation pressure listed in the pressure information applies.

The pressure information applies to tire sizes approved and makes recommended by BMW.

For vehicles with a Run Flat Indicator, the indicator must be initialized after completing repair work.
