Projection Of Virtual Image In Front Of The Vehicle

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 BMW 645Ci and 2004 BMW 645Ci. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The head-up display projects a virtual image, i.e. an image that appears to hang in mid-air without a fixed image carrier (e.g. projection screen or similar). The image is generated on the projection display in the head-up display and is projected forwards through the windscreen to a point in front of the bonnet.

The virtual image is approximately 20 x 10 cm (width x height) and can only be seen from the driver's side.
