22 32 050 Replacing Crossmember For Transmission Mounting

Special tools required:

For the following special tools, refer to 00 2 030 UNIVERSAL HYDRO-LIFTER BASIC UNIT .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove rear underbody protection . See 51 47 491 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Remove heat shields (not S63)
Remove side underbody panelling . See 51 47... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT UNDERBODY PANELLING .
Remove exhaust system (not M57T2). See 18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N54) .

Supporting transmission:

Support transmission with special tools 23 4 050 , 00 2 030 .

Secure transmission to mounting with tensioning strap (1).

Tasks are described in Transmission bracket . See 23... UNIVERSAL BMW TRANSMISSION TAKE-UP .

After completion of work, check transmission oil level.

Release screws.

Tightening torque. See 22 32 4AZ in 22 32 TRANSMISSION MOUNTS .

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque. See 22 32 5AZ in 22 32 TRANSMISSION MOUNTS .

Remove crossmember.
