12 14 524 Replacing pulse generator on exhaust camshaft (N54)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Read out fault memory of DME control unit
Switch off ignition
Remove fan cowl , see 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N54) .

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Release screw.

Tightening torque 12 14 4AZ , see 12 14 ELECTRONIC SHIFT UNITS OR CONTROL UNITS .

Remove pulse generator (2).

NOTE: Check stored fault messages.
Now clear the fault memory.
