12 14 610 Removing/replacing right knock sensors (N63)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Read out fault memory of DME control unit
Switch off ignition
Disconnect battery negative lead , see 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD .
Remove right intake manifold , see 11 61 068 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT INTAKE MANIFOLD (N63) .

Picture shows the left side, the procedure for the right side is identical.

Unlock and disconnect plugs (1) on both knock sensors.

Release screws on both knock sensors (2).

Tightening torque E13 62 5AZ , see 13 62 SENDERS FOR CONTROL UNIT .

Remove knock sensors (3).

Installation:

Clean support face of knock sensors on engine block.

NOTE: Check stored fault message.
Now clear the fault memory.
