61 21 010 Remove and install or replace battery

WARNING: Observe SAFETY INFORMATIONS for handling vehicle battery.
Follow instructions on INTELLIGENT BATTERY SENSOR (IBS) .

IMPORTANT: Do not under any circumstances pull/lever safety battery terminal off by force.

To ensure the correct safety and convenience functions, install only the original battery (battery size and type) stored in the vehicle order. OBSERVE NOTE ON BATTERY REPLACEMENT .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Open positive terminal cover (1) and slacken nut beneath.

Tightening torque 61 21 1AZ .

Detach safety battery terminal (2) towards top, lay to one side and secure.

Detach ventilation (3) in direction of arrow.

Release threaded bolt (4) and remove with holder.

Lift out battery (5) by retaining brackets (6).

Installation note:

Make sure battery is correctly seated in associated fixture.

Replacement:

Delete fault memory if necessary
On vehicles with IBS (intelligent battery sensor) REGISTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT
